MCP

Create videos and images from your AI assistant

Connect your Seedance 2.0 AI account to an AI assistant through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Describe what you need in a conversation; the assistant quotes the credit cost, submits the generation after you confirm and returns the result.

MCP server URL

How it works

  1. 1

    Add the server URL

Add the MCP server URL above in the connector or MCP settings of your AI assistant.

  2. 2

    Sign in and authorize

Sign in to your Seedance 2.0 AI account and allow access. No API key is required.

  3. 3

    Describe your request

Ask for a video or an image in the conversation. The assistant confirms the credit cost before it generates.

Connection steps by client

Menu names may differ slightly between client versions.

Claude (web and desktop)

Free plans allow one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner first adds the connector in Organization settings > Connectors.

  1. Open Customize > Connectors, select + Add and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Enter a name, such as Seedance 2.0 AI, paste the MCP server URL and select Add.
  3. Select Connect, sign in to your Seedance 2.0 AI account and allow access.
  4. In a conversation, select + in the lower left, open Connectors and turn on the connector.

ChatGPT

Adding custom MCP servers is subject to your account and workspace policies.

  1. Open the Plugins page (chatgpt.com/plugins), select + and choose Add custom MCP server.
  2. Enter a name and a description, paste the MCP server URL under Connection and choose OAuth for authentication.
  3. Review the risk notice, select Create as a plugin, then sign in to your Seedance 2.0 AI account and allow access.
  4. In a conversation, type @ and select the plugin before making your request.

Gemini

Custom apps require access to Gemini Spark, an age of 18 or over, a location in the United States and Keep Activity turned on. Google currently supports them in English only.

  1. Open Settings and select Connected Apps. In some versions, Connected Apps is located under Personal intelligence.
  2. Under the custom apps for Spark, paste the MCP server URL and select Next.
  3. Sign in to your Seedance 2.0 AI account and allow access.
  4. Switch to Spark, type @ and choose the app before making your request.

Claude Code

  1. Run the following command in a terminal to add the server.
  2. In Claude Code, run /mcp, select seedance2ai and complete the sign-in.
claude mcp add --transport http seedance2ai https://preview.seedance2ai.io/api/mcp

Codex

  1. Run the first command to add the server.
  2. Run the second command to sign in and allow access.
codex mcp add seedance2ai --url https://preview.seedance2ai.io/api/mcp
codex mcp login seedance2ai

Other clients (API key)

  1. Use this method only when a client cannot sign in through OAuth.
  2. Create an API key on the API page and send it as a Bearer token together with the MCP server URL.
  3. Store the key in the secure credential settings of the client. Do not paste it into a conversation.

Let a coding agent complete the setup

Send the following instruction to Claude Code or Codex. The agent reads the setup guide and adds the server for you.

Read https://preview.seedance2ai.io/mcp-guide.txt and connect the Seedance 2.0 AI MCP server (https://preview.seedance2ai.io/api/mcp) to this client.

  • Failed generations are refunded automatically.
  • When the video duration is set to auto, the maximum duration is reserved, and unused credits are refunded after generation.
  • Your AI assistant subscription is billed separately from Seedance 2.0 AI credits.

Example requests

After connecting, send one of these requests to your AI assistant.

  • Which video and image models can I use through Seedance 2.0 AI, and how many credits do I have?
  • Quote a 5-second 16:9 Seedance 2.0 video in the Fast tier: a paper boat drifting down a rainy street at dusk.
  • Create a 2K square poster for a mountain music festival with Nano Banana Pro. Tell me the credit cost first.
  • Turn this landscape photo into a 6-second Seedance 2.5 video with slowly drifting clouds: https://example.com/landscape.jpg
  • Check the status of my most recent task and send me the result link once it is ready.

Frequently asked questions

The connection succeeded, but the tools are unavailable. What should I do?

Confirm that the sign-in was completed and that the connector is enabled in the current conversation: in Claude, through + > Connectors; in ChatGPT, by typing @ and selecting the plugin. If the tools still do not appear, start a new conversation or reconnect.

Do I need an API key?

Not for clients that support sign-in through OAuth, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude Code and Codex. An API key is needed only for clients without OAuth support.

How do I disconnect an AI assistant?

On the API page, select Disconnect next to the app under Connected AI apps. Access ends immediately. To use the app again, connect it and allow access once more; it then appears as a new connection.

Why are earlier tasks missing from the task list after I reconnected?

Each connection lists only the tasks it created. Tasks from an earlier connection remain listed under Recent API tasks on the API page.

Can I use images or videos stored on my computer?

Reference files must be available at a public HTTPS URL. Upload the file to a service that provides a direct link, then include that link in your request.

Which credits are used?

Your personal credit balance, which is also used on the website and in the API. Team credits are not used.

Ready to connect?

Copy the MCP server URL and add it to your AI assistant. You can manage connected apps on the API page at any time.
